Knocked Down

You can learn a lot by watching.

For example, I once watched a drunk passed out on a street corner.

He was NOT trying to get up, and as a consequence no one tried to help him. No one tries to help those who do not try to help themselves.

A week later, someone fell in front of my office building. I did not see the fall, but I think it may have started with an epileptic seizure.  After it passed, the fallen person had a leg injury of some kind and was trying very hard to stand.  A dozen hands were there to help.

The lesson is clear: If you try to get back up, this country is full of hands and always will be.

There is no shame in being knocked down, only in not trying to get back up.
