We Need Blacks, Jews, and Gays with Guns

Sarah Silverman's video is about the often overt, and never more than barely hidden, racism of the National Rifle Association.

As I noted back in February, "The quickest way to gun control is if black folks and Hispanics 'Open Carry' handguns to their State Capitols and loiter near the parking lots where state and federal legislators and their staffs park their cars."

That said, as I often tell my Jewish friends, they seem to have missed a core message of the Holocaust, which is that a well-armed minority is necessary to make sure oppression never starts. 

As I noted in a post back in 2007 entitled The Liberal Case for Gun Ownership

The old liberals know the value of guns.

They know that after the Civil War, southern whites denied blacks the right to own guns, because it was easier to lynch an unarmed black man than it was one who owned a deer rifle and 200 rounds of ammunition.

Some gay Americans have discovered this secret knowledge as well....

If this sounds like Revolutionary talk, it is. It is the kind of language our revolutionary Founding Fathers might have used if they were gay, or black, or Hispanic, or Muslim, or Jewish and living in America today.

”Don’t Tread On Me,” was not a bumper sticker back then – it was a warning every bit as ominous as the shake of a rattlesnake’s tail.

Is that the kind of argument white, racist paranoids like Ted Nugent and Wayne LaPierre are ever going to use to recruit gay, black, Hispanic, Muslim, and Jewish members to the National Rifle Association? 

Of course not.

Which is why Sarah Silverman's video is so deadly... and so terrifying to the chicken-shit tin-horn bullies at the National Rifle Association. The very idea of blacks, Hispanics, Jews, Muslims, and gays organized in clubs scares the crap out of them.

Of course they have never had a problem with white racist gun clubs sponsored by the state and located in every small town and community in America.  They're called police departments.
