Same dig, locating with ear. I have learned more listening to the dogs underground than I have from most people.
Snared and release unharmed. This was a pretty decent size raccoon. When this fellow was clear from the hole, released, and running straight at me, I judged him to be about 22 pounds.

A puppy sees her first raccoon under very controlled circumstances. The penny has not yet dropped in this one. There is plenty of time.
