Digging on the Dogs

Tailing out a groundhog

Bullet

Jordan

Met up with Dorothy and Jess and Don to work the dogs a bit. It was a pretty warm day, but we worked the hedgerows and it was not too bad. The dogs caught a young raccoon above ground, and it was dispatched as quickly as we could reach it. The dogs found a groundhog to ground (lot of blank holes) pretty far into the farm, and we dug on this sette which had two inside, one of which was a malingering adolescent (almost as big as the adult) which we let go. The third groundhog of the day was not very large (pictured at top) and was in a nice hard-rock sette. With shovel, bar, and posthole diggers we banged our way into this shallow den, and Dorothy took this one home to cook in the crockpot. Wonder how that turns out?
